Robben underlines Boateng's importance to Bayern

The jury is still firmly out on whether Boateng will leave Bayern Munich this summer.

The 29-year-old, who was a member of the national team that won the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, has been linked with a move away from the Allianz Arena during this transfer window, with Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain both linked with a potential bid. While the club's management favour selling the 29-year-old German worldwide this summer, coach Niko Kovac and several stars are demanding that Boateng stays.

As for PSG, the Ligue 1 champions have been touted as a possible destination, with new head coach Thomas Tuchel keen to bolster his options at centre-back ahead of the new campaign.

However, the Premier League's deadline is set for 5pm local time on Thursday, ruling out Manchester United's chances of resurrecting talks after Boateng told José Mourinho he wouldn't be signing for him.

United are understood to have had a £22.5million offer rejected though the club maintain they only wanted a loan.

For now, the delay is not only annoying PSG coach Tuchel but is causing a significant internal dispute in the Bavarian club, so much so that it could affect the team's progress this season.

"To win more titles than last season, we need to keep the team together", Robben said. Bayern value Boateng at £44m.

"For me Jerome is one of the best central defenders in the world", the Dutch winger said. "He is one of the world's best, and we need his physical presence on the pitch".
