Iran sanctions: USA can't stop our oil exports, says minister

Following the meeting, which came hours after USA re-imposed sanctions on Tehran, on Wednesday the Iranian President stated that Tehran welcomed the prospect of pace and security through the Korean Peninsula in order to establish new trade links with the country.

Iran has denounced as "U.S. unilateralism" the reimposition of sanctions in line with Trump's decision to pull out of the agreement over Iran's nuclear program.

"China's commercial cooperation with Iran is open and transparent, reasonable, fair and lawful, not violating any United Nations Security Council resolutions", the Chinese foreign ministry said in a statement to Reuters.

North Korea's foreign minister Ri Yong Ho on Wednesday met with the Iranian President in Tehran on the second day of an ongoing trip to the country, Iranian state news outlets reported, with Rouhani stressing the DPRK should not place excessive trust in American commitments. "These are the most biting sanctions ever imposed, and in November they ratchet up to yet another level", Trump wrote on Twitter.

The US is now also pushing Pyongyang to scrap its nuclear capabilities after Trump and North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un agreed a vague commitment to "denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula" at their landmark summit in June.

He doubled down on that sentiment Wednesday saying that before United States sanctions "nobody supported Iran".

Russian Federation says it's deeply disappointed in the new USA sanctions against Iran and will fight to preserve the Iran nuclear deal brokered by President Barack Obama.

"Our policy is based on a clear-eyed assessment of the Iranian dictatorship, its sponsorship of terrorism, and its continuing aggression in the Middle East and all around the world", the president said.

"Wherever you see Iranian activity, you see Qassem Soleimani".

When talking about Iran's right to the Strait of Hormuz, Rouhani had commented that Americans "should know that peace with Iran is the mother of all peace, and war with Iran is the mother of all wars".

"For whatever reason they're doing that, I hope that continues", Votel said.

European countries have also vowed to protect the nuclear deal by continuing to trade with Iran.

"Prices are rising again, but the reason is government corruption, not United States sanctions", said Ali, a 35-year-old decorator in Tehran.

Iran's regional rivals Israel and Saudi Arabia have welcomed the tough new U.S. policy.
