Manchester United face 'difficult' year if no more signings - Jose Mourinho

Manchester United face 'difficult' year if no more signings - Jose Mourinho

Jerome Boateng may prefer a move to PSG over Manchester United according to reports.

Having won the Premier League title in 2014/15, Mourinho faced a dressing room revolt in the following campaign, with the Brazilian seemingly being the only player to keep on giving his all.

"The other clubs who compete with us are really strong and have fantastic squads, like Chelsea, Tottenham or Manchester City, or they are investing massively like Liverpool, that are buying everything and everybody".

Mourinho wants two new players before Thursday's transfer deadline - a centre-back and a right winger - but has privately conceded one new arrival is more realistic.

Yerry Mina (Barcelona) and Willian (Chelsea) are among those to be linked with a move to Old Trafford.

The Frenchman was said to have rejoined with the squad following the hard birth his partner had that kept him out of previous pre-season fixtures.

United have opened talks with Bayern, who want £45million for the 29-year-old, but the Red Devils are keen to negotiate that fee in a bid to bring it closer to the £40m mark.

German media outlet Kicker, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that Manchester United are facing competition from League Cup runners up Arsenal and Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain.

Mourinho has seemed unhappy in pre-season and expressed his frustration at the club's lack of new signings.

"Mourinho is the best manager I've ever worked with", he declared.

It has been a disappointing summer so far, with major areas in the first team in desperate need of investment and transition; with the fanbase not willing to give Jose Mourinho any patience, he will need to hit the ground running and his insistence on senior players is therefore natural.
