Luka Modric could follow Cristiano Ronaldo to Italy this summer, reports claim

According to Di Marzio (via Football Italia), there is a possibility that Modric could inform Perez he wants the move to go through and, given his excellent relationship with the Real chief, this could be enough to spark an agreement to allow Modric to join Inter for a more modest price than is now being reported.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez reveals that Luka Modric is available to interested for clubs for £670m.

"The only possibility that Modric leaves is by paying €750million [£668m]", said the official.

From these same sources, it seems that Modric is willing to entertain the idea of a move to Italy, with a desire for one last big contract deal cited as his reasoning for wanting the move.

The Serie A outfit has a strong Croatian contingent at the club already, which could be a huge drawcard for Modric as he would like to play alongside his countrymen who did so well at the World Cup.

As for Inter Milan, they will be competing in the Champions League for the first time in six years and are building a squad to reestablish themselves amongst Europe's elite. Despite being nearly 33 now, Modric's dazzling displays at the World Cup in Russian Federation - where he won the Golden Ball as Croatia reached the final - showed that he remains unaffected by his advancing years. For this reason, claims Gazzetta, Inter would seek an initial loan deal with an option to buy - a solution which, unless the purchase clause were obligatory, Real would not be expected to countenance.
